The Management of Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia has announced reopening of the institution which was shut-down in July following student’s unrest.

The Registrar of the polytechnic, Mr Labani Joseph, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lafia.

However, Joseph said however told that each returning student would only be allowed to resume on some conditions stipulated by the management.

According to him, each resuming student is required to submit a letter of undertaking to be of good behaviour before being readmitted.

He said such letter must be signed by their respective Local Government chairmen or by a civil servant not below the rank of a director in service.

“They will also submit a bank teller each showing evidence of payment of the sum of N2,000 into the institution’s account with the Unity Bank as fine for damages caused during their protest of July 27.

“Failure to present these items by any student, will amount to forfeiting his or her studies with the institution,’’ he said.

He advised students to comply and resume immediately as academic activities would commence without further delays to meet up with the school’s academic calendar for the year.

NAN recalls that two students of the institution were allegedly killed by police bullets on July 27, while protesting the death of a colleague who was knockdown by a hit and run vehicle same day.

The police it was investigating the incident and called for calm.
