A former chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has finally opened up on why he left the PDP to join Labour Party (LP).

The Oyo State, former governor made the revelations in an interview with Daily Independent correspondent, where he bares his mind on the crises rocking the party as well as his determination to break the second term jinx in the state.

Alao-Akala said he left because of the injustice in the PDP whereby it was impossible for the party to conduct a free and fair primary, and when nobody wanted to listen to the cries of the aspirants against injustice.

He said the best thing was to leave, adding that the manner PDP elected the party’s candidate was not what was agreed upon; alleging that what the party did was just to shy away from picking a popular candidate and as such, he had to leave.

The ex-governor, however, reiterated that though he was not forced to leave the party, but he could not just continue to waste his time in a party where congresses were cancelled, because they were not trying to be fair.

Alao-Akala also said a level playing ground was not provided, despite complaints from aspirants, adding that when the party turned deaf ears to them, he decided to move.
