Eight Corps members deployed to Kaduna State under the Batch B 2015 of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are to repeat their service year in the state.

The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mohammed Momoh, made the disclosure in Kaduna on Thursday at the passing out of the 2, 837 members of the batch.

Mr. Momoh said the eight corps members absconded immediately after their orientation last year.

He said 15 other corps members had their service years extended for violating rules and regulations of the corps.

“This is a punitive measure taken against the erring corps members for violating the rules and regulations of the corps,” he said.

The coordinator said seven corps members died during the service year.

Mr. Momoh said that three corps members won the state’s merit award, seven others got the chairman’s awards, while 10 won the state coordinators’ commendation award.

He commended the state government, and the people of the state for the sustained moral and financial support to the corps.

The coordinator urged the corps members to utilise the skills acquired during the service year in their future endeavour, and always be good ambassadors of Nigeria.
