The Lagos State Government has affirmed its readiness to host over 20,000 Local and International Marathoners in the forth coming Access Lagos City Marathon race scheduled to come up tomorrow, February 6, 2016.

Here are 6 Important things you need to know about the event:

– Lagos City Marathon – The Event

The event will host over 20,000 Local and International Marathoners in the forth coming Access Lagos City Marathon race scheduled to come up tomorrow, February 6, 2016.

– The Route – The Marathon Course

Lagos-Marathon-1

Start point – The Marathon Route will start at the National Stadium, Surulere

The runners go towards Ojuelegba Bridge, Ikorodu Road, (on top of Fela Bridge), towards Anthony under Anthony Bridge, under Maryland Bridge, move towards Ojota, pass by the Total Filling Station and turn right towards Alapere towards to Ogudu, go by Ogudu junction towards Oworosoki and head towards Third Mainland Bridge, after Adeniji Adele, turn right towards Ikoyi on the bridge, go through Osborne Road, turn left to Parkview and head towards Lekki/Ikoyi Bridge, at bottom of bridge, turn right to Admiralty Way, at the entrance of Lekki Phase 1, turn right towards Lekki Toll Gate, head to Ozumba Mbadiwe, go by 1004 and Radisson Blu Hotel towards Bonny Camp, turn left at the roundabout going towards Ahmadu Bello Way, go by Federal Palace Hotel, Silverbird Galleria, NTA and then Bar Beach

Finish point -Eko Atlantic.

– You Must have Running number if you are participating

You must collect your running number if you are participating or you just do for the fun of it by partaking without official number. Registration for number has closed yesterday, February 4th.

– $50,000.00 up for grabs (Do the maths)

Awards (Medals and Certificates)

All finishers of the marathon will receive medals and certificates.

– 50,000 Marathoners are expected

Imagine the huge logistics that will go into organising the Lagos City Marathon in a city like Lagos. Several renowned marathoners from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and other countries are already in town for the event, while local and other athletes are fully prepared to participate in the event. On the part of the government, maximum security, refreshments, ambulance services and entertainment are guaranteed. For runners, it’s advisable to leave your car and other valuables at home, arrive early and follow instructions. You are assured of a pleasant time at the marathon!

– Economy

Hosting the event will further boost the economy of Lagos State as well as promote Lagos as a destination worthy of visit by tourists, sportsmen and investors.
