NEILS-Ambassadors

The organisers of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme (NEIHIS) are making frantic efforts towards the scheme’s successful kick off and the institutionalization of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Trust Fund (NEIHTF). Part of these efforts is the appointment of Goodwill ambassadors that will be unveiled to the public in phases.

In the last one week, the ambassadors who have identified with, and also undergoing enrollment procedures to NEIHIS have been involved in the shooting of Public Service Announcements (PSA) for the scheme. The PSAs are meant to feature prominently on partner television and radio stations with a view to educating practitioners about the scheme and encourage mass enrollment.

The first four goodwill ambassadors that have featured in the entertainment industry health insurance scheme PSAs are; legendary musician- 2Face Idibia, Veteran DJ Jimmy Jatt, Immensely talented actor-Yemi Solade and indefatigable comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka. These great entertainment personalities have made themselves available to join NEIHIS in the institutionalization of the scheme and finally put an end to avoidable deaths and other health challenges enveloping the entertainment industry. Other sets of goodwill ambassadors will be unveiled in phases in the month of February.

The goodwill ambassadors spoke highly of the scheme and described it as a deliberate attempt to safeguard the lives of the practitioners of the entertainment industry and restore the industry’s credibility as this will put an end to public begging and avoidable deaths. 2Face Idibia described it as a lifesaving initiative and selfless sacrifice for the glory of the industry. DJ Jimmy Jatt and Gbenga Adeyinka who have been part of the process from the beginning expressed their profound joy that the scheme is finally kicking off while Yemi Solade expressed his intense believe that begging for alms when chips are down will no longer be tolerated as the scheme is meant to eradicate all of that.

Now that the scheme is finally ready, the organizers plan to issue a public statement soon and make available to the entertainment and media industry the plans under the scheme, the numerous benefits and how they can be accessed via enrollment. Some of the other top celebrities who have agreed to be goodwill ambassadors to the scheme are currently shooting Public Service Announcements for the scheme.

The Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme (NEIHIS) is a private health insurance scheme with customized plans specifically for the entertainment industry. It is an initiative of Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series (NEILS) in partnership with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
