The presidency on Friday showed readiness by administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to start the implementation of the 2017 budget on January 1.

It also said the process to ensure that the implementation took off smoothly was in progress.

Addressing journalists on Friday in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang said that as a prelude to the presentation of the 2017 Appropriation Bill, the President had already forwarded the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, MTEF & FSP to the National Assembly for consideration and subsequent approval.

Buhari projected a total budget of N6,866,335,052,740 for 2017.

Senator Enang said government was working hard to provide food, employment and security.

He further hailed the Senate on the speedy consideration given to correspondences from the President.

“The dexterity, speed, thorough attention, legal touch and expertise deployed by senate and its committees in considering and handling matters of the executive is worth commendations”, Itang said.
