The Nigerian Army on Friday announced the surrender of 200 members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, during a military operation in Banki.

Revealing the success of the military operation, the headquarters of the Nigerian Army stated on its page on social media site, Twitter:

“Over 200 Boko Haram terrorists have just surrendered to Nigerian troops in Banki. #OperationLafiyaDole“

While the army is yet to provide details of the operation in which the terrorists are said to have surrendered, there have been mixed reactions to the announcement.

On social media site, Twitter, some Nigerians celebrated the surrender of the terrorists while some others wondered how the Army could have hitherto destroyed Boko Haram camps in recent days without killing any of the insurgents, only for 200 Boko Haram members to turn themselves in today.
