The police in Gombe on Friday arrested 10 youths who tried to take advantage of a suicide bombing incident to loot people’s property.

The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Fwaje Atajiri, told NAN on Saturday that the youths engaged in the act Friday night in Arawa area of Gombe metropolis, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kudu Nma, had warned youths against taking advantage of such incidents, to commit crime.

Atajiri, who confirmed the suicide bomb incident, said they were still compiling details what exactly happened.

However, a source who did not want his name mentioned, told NAN that the bomber had gone to the area in the night, but was stopped by a vigilant youth at a local market.

The source narrated how the young man insisted on conducting a search on the bomber, who, rather than submitting himself for a check, detonated the explosive that killed him (suicide bomber) and some innocent people around the area.
