President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu expressed profound grief on Monday over the untimely demise of Raymond Dokpesi, the esteemed media mogul and founder of Daar Communications, which includes African Independent Television (AIT).
In a heartfelt statement, President Tinubu paid tribute to Dokpesi’s remarkable contributions to the Nigerian media industry and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and the Daar Communications community.
Raymond Dokpesi, who had been undergoing medical treatment, tragically passed away earlier today at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.
President Tinubu’s media officer, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, issued a statement on behalf of the President, highlighting the immense loss that Dokpesi’s passing represents for the Nigerian media industry and the entire country.
President Tinubu expressed his deep admiration for the late media entrepreneur’s pioneering role in private broadcasting and his unparalleled investment in the industry.
“The death of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi is a blow to the media industry where he has played pioneering roles in private broadcasting. His pacesetting investment in the industry is an inspiration to many who come after him,” President Tinubu conveyed.
“The history of the evolution of the Nigerian media industry will be incomplete without prominent mention of Dokpesi and his giant footprints on the media landscape.
“I express my sincere condolences to the management and staff of Daar Communications and the family of the late media entrepreneur for this monumental loss,” he said.
