President Bola Tinubu has embarked on a journey from the nation’s capital, Abuja, to attend the grand finale of the week-long celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.
An update from the State House media office confirmed President Tinubu’s departure on Saturday morning, emphasizing his participation in the milestone event honoring the esteemed military institution.
The NDA’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations commenced earlier in the week, culminating in the unveiling of a commemorative emblem and crest on February 5 at the NDA Auditorium, Afaka. The ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including NDA graduates, former Commandants, serving and retired military officers, and representatives from various security and paramilitary organizations.
Major General Rabiu Aliyu (retd.), a distinguished member of the pioneer Regular Course 1 of 1964, graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, adding prestige to the anniversary festivities.
Following his participation in the NDA Anniversary, President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja later in the day. Subsequently, he will proceed to Abidjan, the Ivorian capital, to witness the highly anticipated AFCON final showdown between Nigeria and host nation Côte d’Ivoire.
