Femi Olaleye, the managing director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of his wife’s niece.
The judgement was handed down by Judge Rahman Oshodi at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos on Tuesday.
Olaleye was found guilty on a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration, with the offenses alleged to have occurred between March 2020 and November 2021.
Despite pleading not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on November 30, 2022, the prosecution presented compelling evidence, including testimony from at least seven witnesses.
The witnesses included the defendant’s wife, who reported the case to the police, the alleged survivor whose identity is being withheld, a child forensic specialist, Bisi Ajayi-Kayode, police inspector Esther Igbineweka, medical examiner Akinbunmi Oyebimpe, and Abe Leonard, a police officer.
