A woman, who claims that children keep her young, decided to have more children through IVF.
65-year-old Annegret Raunigk of Berlin, Germany, is set to expand her large family.
Raunigk, who already has 13 children by five different fathers, announced that she is pregnant again with quadruplets.
Raunigk, who teaches Russian and English, said that she decided to have more children after her youngest daughter, who is 9 years old, wanted a sibling.
Raunigk made several attempts to have a baby though artificial insemination abroad. After a year and a half of trying, she became pregnant with quadruplets.
Raunigk’s oldest daughter is 44 years old.
After she gives birth, she will have a total of 17 children. So far, she has 7 grandchildren.
Raunigk said that so far, the pregnancy was without complications. The babies are due in the summer. The birth of the babies will make Raunigk the oldest mother of quadruplets in the world.
Raunigk admitted that it was shocking when the doctor announced that she was having quadruplets. However, she had not considered to abort any of the embryos.
Raunigk indicated that she had no reservations about the challenges ahead. “I’m not really scared. I just assume I will stay healthy and fit. I have enough experience, that’s not new to me,” Raunigk said.
Raunigk said that she really only wanted one child, but things happen. “I’m not a planner, but rather spontaneous and children keep me young,” she added.
