Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Kenedy from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal. The 22-year-old has rejoined the Magpies after a successful loan stint under Rafael Benitez during the second half of the previous campaign.
“I am so happy with this interest from Rafa Benitez, that he came back for me. I want to keep it going, the work that I did here before, for the new season,” Kenedy told the club’s official website.
The Chelsea loanee becomes the Magpies third signing of the summer, following the permanent arrivals of Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-yueng but the club have yet to welcome a big-money arrival upfront.
Benitez’s side struggled to score goals on a regular basis during the first half of last season, in particular, and there is likely to be some movement to rectify this issue in the summer.
