Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has suffered a suspected hamstring injury ahead of next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
The Mainz defender limped off in the Bundesliga game game for his side against Bayer Leverkusen.
Balogun, who has formed a superb central defence partnership for the Super Eagles with Norway-based William Troost-Ekong, limped out after just nine minutes in a 3 -2 loss for his side.
It is suspected he has suffered a hamstring injury and a scan will determine how long he will now be sidelined.
The 28-year-old defender who has featured in all five league games for Mainz this season was named in the Bundesliga team of the week just lat week.
Nigeria travel to Ndola, Zambia on October 9 in an opening round of the final phase of the qualifying series for Russia 2018.
