Anita Asuoha, widely recognized as Real Warri Pikin, has candidly shared the harrowing experience of her attempted suicide in 2018 due to overwhelming debt amounting to N22 million.
The beloved comedienne and actress revealed that financial burdens and unpaid debts led her to contemplate ending her life.
In a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram page to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, Real Warri Pikin recounted how a series of failed business ventures plunged her family into debt.
Influenced by a motivational speaker, her husband had invested in multiple businesses that unfortunately did not yield returns, leaving them financially strained.
“I gave up on life because the burden was too much,” she confessed. “Life was hitting me left, right, and center. I felt like the only way to escape the pain was to end it.”
She emphasized the importance of seeking help and holding onto hope during challenging times.
“Suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem,” she advised. “Hold on to God and do what your power can reach.”
This is not the first time the media personality has spoken about her struggles with mental health. In 2019, Real Warri Pikin revealed that her journey through depression became the catalyst for her comedy career.
“I discovered my comedy talent through depression,” she shared. “I didn’t have money, and a lot of things went wrong. I started making videos to motivate and inspire people in a funny way, and here I am today.”
