A police officer was arrested on charges of rape after allegedly raping a teen girl who he knew from his church, police in New York said.
New York Police Department Officer Vladimir Sosa, 38, who works out of the 46th Precinct in the Bronx, was arrested on Tuesday.
The 7-year veteran of the force was a pastor at the church where his victim was a member. Sosa has been charged with rape, criminal sexual acts, sexual misconduct, neglect and sexual abuse.
At a bail hearing, Sosa was released on his own recognizance.
According to the police investigation, Sosa had sex with the girl at his house multiple times.
The mother of the girl reported the alleged incidents last month, after finding inappropriate text messages on her daughter’s cellphone.
