Erstwhile Senate President David Mark has said no sacrifice will be too much for him to make for his constituency, promising to do everything to end the Agatu massacre.
Sen. Mark who gave the assurance yesterday during a “Thank You Tour” of Agatu, Apa and Ohimini local government areas, condemned the attack on Agatu people as “unwarranted”, pledging to find lasting remedy to the crisis.
He appreciated the people for the overwhelming support given to him to emerge victorious during the February 20 senatorial re-run election, averring that the victory is a proof that they can take their destiny in their hands.
“I commend our people for standing with me at that election, on my part as the senator representing this district, I will continue to work for the peace, unity and progress of our people so that we can all usher Idoma land to another level of development.
“While I enjoin all of our people to stand with the people of Agatu in their moment of grieve, I promise to liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure that the crisis is brought to an end as soon as possible”, he promised.
Mark was conferred with the title of Ogumola K’ Ohimini meaning, “someone who goes into fire for his people” by Head of Ohimini traditional council Chief John Ochai.
Later in a short chat with newsmen, Mark said he is not disturbed by the fact that his opponent at the re-run election and APC candidate, Daniel Onjeh has filed a petition challenging his re-election for the second time, expressing confidently that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will continue to wax stronger.
