The Japanese enjoyed some sort of ‘home support’ from the fans since he plays in Poland but it was the Nigerian who emerged victorious after matching his opponent strength-for-strength and skill-for-skill.
Before this feat, Quadri had beaten Kazakhstan’s Kirill Gerassimenko (11-5, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6) in the semi-final stage of the competition.
Mima Ito defeated her compatriot Saki Shibata to win the women’s singles.
Quadri will feature at the prestigious ITTF World Cup in Liege, Belgium, from October 20 to 22.
