Samson Siasia, U-23 team coach, focus for now is to resume camping ahead of the Rio Olympics in August.
Siasia, who has submitted his programmes to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is waiting for the approval of his programmes for him to start preparation.
He said that he was yet to consider over-aged players to be invited, adding that he cannot talk of over-aged players, when he was not sure of the real players.
Siasia also raised concerns on the availability of the foreign-based players he would want to use for the Olympics and said that NFF should seek early release of these players since the Olympics would coincide with the beginning of the new football season in Europe.
The coach, who has also proposed a United States of America camping for the team, noted that some Super Eagles players were within the U-23 age grade, noting, however, that he can only list them if he gets the words of their clubs on their readiness to release them for the Games.
“I cannot say this is the over-aged player I have picked for now; we need to start preparations with the real players. We are looking at players that are going to be in form and would be ready to play for us at that period, do not forget that the European season will be on during the Olympics Games period.
“We have a lot of players from the Super Eagles, who are also within the U-23 age category; the likes of Ogenyi Onazi, Alex Iwobi, Simon Moses and many others. But you must get the words of their clubs and sporting directors for them to agree to release them,” Siasia said.
