Suspected Tiv militia on Sunday attacked Kadarko community in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa, leading to the missing of two Fulani people and the killing of 73 cows.
The Nasarawa State Chairman of Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Muhammed Hussaini, told Daily Trust that the gunmen stormed the community and shot sporadically, killing the cows, injuring many other cows.
Hussaini said that MACBAN had called on all the affected herders to remain calm as government and security operatives were working to ensure that the perpetrators faced the full wrath of the law.
In a response, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DPS Idrisu Kennedy, said some gunmen had attacked Kadarko and opened fire on Fulani herders and killed 73 cows.
He said there was no loss of live in the attack, and that of six people who got missing, four were seen but two other Fulani herders were still missing.
Kennedy said that the state commissioner of police, CP Bello Ahmed, personally visited the area.
