Legendury Beatz consists of two brothers Mutay, 27 and his elder brother Uzezi, 30 are one of the most soughts after producers in Nigeria and create singles for artistes outside Nigeria at times.
The duo have produced singles with vocal contribution from artists such as Wizkid, Wale, Tinie Tempah, 2Face, Ice Prince, L.A.X, Ceeza and more. In a recent interview with MTV UK they said;
“We are a production duo that is proud to have influenced our industry, more importantly we have been very fortunate and consider it a blessing to be among the pioneers of our time bringing the global spotlight to the African sound.”
The duo started their music production career in the year 2009 and bursted into the Nigerian scene after the production of ‘Azonto’ for Wizkid, the duo later got signed to his Starboy imprint alongside Maleek Berry and L.A.X.
“We have spent the last few years touring and working on material for Wizkid and that has been brilliant, however we are working on new material which would mark our first ever body of work as Legendury Beatz.”
Earlier this year, the Legendury Beatz brand boomed even higher when Wizkid dropped the single ‘Ojuelegba’ off his ‘Ayo’ album which quickly became fans favourite and was enjoying massive and responsive airplay across the country, the popularity prompted Drake & Skepta to jump on the Legendury Beatz produced song which premiered on Drizzy’s OVO radio station on Apple’s Beats 1. Despite the globalised attention, the brothers stand firm in their quest to reach higher heights.
“We have never relied on the success of Ojuelegba, we are only just starting, and the mission is bigger than that. We are on a mission we call ‘Africa to the World’ bridging the gap between what we believe the rest of the world should enjoy from our fast emerging industry.”
Rising singer Ceeza features on their latest single L.A.F.S (Love At First Sight).
“L.A.F.S short for ‘Love At First Sight’ is a feel good, soul-shifting track that features vocals from an incredible young guy called Ceeza. The track embodies a fusion of Dancehall, Afrobeats-Pop and tropical house while focusing on traditional African story telling. A track you can play in a club, in your car, at a bbq or during a lounge session. It is that kind of track that gives you a little bit of everything!”
With an end of summer dance infused pop song and a debut project on the way, Zei and Mutay are keen to set the record straight. They are Starboy artists and that is not changing any time soon.
“Our fans have been asking us for a new ‘Legendury Beatz and Wizkid’ Song. Trust us when we say it will be worth the wait. Starboy is home and will always be home, it’s just been a busy time for the whole team, but expect new music from Legendury Beatz and Wizkid soon and also a Starboy album”
