The Kogi State Government has confirmed the abduction of nine students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Okene, by bandits on Thursday night.

According to a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the bandits invaded the university around 9 pm, shooting into the air to scare the students. The students, who were preparing for their upcoming exams, were taken away by the kidnappers.

Governor Usman Ododo has assured the people of the state that the government is working to ensure the safe return of the abducted students. The government has activated its security architecture to track the kidnappers and apprehend them.

Fanwo stated that nine students have been reported missing, and security operatives, along with local hunters, are working to ensure their safe rescue. The government has urged the public to remain calm and provide any useful information that can lead to the rescue of the students.
