Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, the self-styled Onitsha-based pastor, has declared his intention to halt the further depreciation of the Nigerian naira against the dollar.
Odumeje made this statement upon his return from London, where he had traveled earlier in the month to host a comedy show.
Known for his flamboyant personality and claims of possessing supernatural powers, the pastor has often boasted of his ability to influence societal issues through his spiritual prowess.
In early April, Odumeje had taken credit for the naira’s appreciation against the dollar, claiming that one of his spiritual powers was behind the currency’s surge.
However, recent reports indicate a decline in the naira’s value, with the local currency depreciating to N1,320 to the dollar at the parallel market on Friday.
Nevertheless, Odumeje remains undeterred, asserting that he is back to intervene and reverse the naira’s slide.
“This is Indaboski Bahose. The war and the battle. A man full of power and activities. The only man who tells you ‘I will bring down the dollar’ and gets it done. When I left the country, the dollar began to rise; now, I am back, I will continue where I stopped,” Odumeje declared.
The pastor had previously claimed credit for the naira’s appreciation on April 8 when the currency strengthened to N1,120 against the dollar at the black market and N1,230 at the official window.
