Hamster Kombat, the popular Telegram tap-to-earn game, took a season-ending snapshot of players’ progress on Friday as it gears up for the much-anticipated launch of its HMSTR token and airdrop on September 26, Okay.ng reports.
In preparation for the token release, the game introduced its “interlude season”, a period where many of the familiar in-game features have been temporarily removed while developers calculate airdrop allocations for players.
Notably, the in-game coins and the tap-to-earn mechanic on the main screen have been scrapped, and the crypto exchange upgrades and Mine menu are no longer accessible. However, players can still earn in-game diamonds by playing partnered games, inviting friends, following Hamster Kombat on social media, and watching videos on YouTube.
In addition to the diamonds, a new Mine submenu has been introduced within the Playground section, where players can use diamonds to purchase and upgrade startup-themed cards, which in turn generate more diamonds.
The game’s developers are set to launch the HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on September 26. Airdrop allocations are expected to be disclosed to players before the token generation event. With over 300 million players to date and 100 million active users in the last month, TON developers have cautioned that the demand for the airdrop could potentially impact the network.
