HabariPay’s Squad, in pursuit of its mission to empower businesses and young innovators across Africa, has announced the debut of its first-ever hackathon, “Take on Squad Hackathon 1.0.”
Scheduled to unfold on January 19th and 20th, 2023, the social coding event will take place at the GTCO Training Complex, Tayo’s Plaza, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Take on Squad Hackathon 1.0 is specifically tailored for young innovators in Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.
The competition challenges participating teams to devise innovative solutions to challenges within their local communities and the broader society.
The primary objective of the hackathon is to positively impact young Nigerians by providing a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators to develop transformative technological capabilities, collaboratively create practical tech solutions, and refine their coding skills.
Participants will have the exclusive opportunity to utilize Squad’s cutting-edge APIs in bringing their ideas to life.
The two-day event promises an action-packed schedule, with intense coding sessions on day one and engaging activities such as product demos, panel discussions, and the announcement of winners on day two.
The team with the most innovative idea will receive a prize of N2.5 million, the first runner-up will be awarded N1.5 million, and the third-placed team will get N1 million.
Additionally, the top three teams will gain the unique opportunity to join the Squad Hackademy, where they will receive mentorship and access internships and job opportunities facilitated by Squad.
Eduofon Japhet, Managing Director of HabariPay Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm about the inaugural Take on Squad Hackathon, stating, “We strongly believe in the power of young minds to drive positive change in society. This is reflected in our approach to providing simple, innovative solutions to everyday problems faced by small and mid-sized businesses across Africa with Squad. The Take on Squad Hackathon is the first of many initiatives to offer young, enterprising students a platform to engage meaningfully with technology and showcase their creativity and problem-solving abilities.”
