Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State in North-East Nigeria has been declared the winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election.
Yahaya, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated his closest contender, Mohammed Jibrin Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with a significant margin.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yahaya of the APC scored a total of 342,821 votes to emerge as the winner, while Barde of the PDP came second with 233,131 votes.
The other candidates in the race, Ahmed Mailantarki of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Keftin Amuga of the Labour Party (LP), came third and fourth respectively with votes of 19,861 and 1,753 respectively.
