Katsina’s professional league side Katsina Spotlights FC yesterday held the Super Eagles to a goal-less draw in a friendly game played to launch the Karkanda Stadium, Katsina.
The Spotlights put in a spectacular performance to deny the home-based Eagles any chance of netting a goal for the entire duration of the game.
Although the Super Eagles were more offensive and had some chances, but they could hardly convert them.
In a post-match conference, the coach of Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi described the match as “fine” and gave the state government credits for “building a befitting stadium”.
Keshi assured that he would look at the possibility of taking the Super Eagles to Katsina for any of its matches in the future.
Similarly, Coach Bishir Sadauki of the Spotlights said the match was a further boost to his team and appealed to Keshi to explore the possibility of inviting some of the players to play for the national team.
The friendly was one of a number of activities lined up for the commissioning of the 35,000-capacity Karkanda Stadium.
