French star Benjamin Pavard has won the 2018 World Cup Goal of the Tournament with his stunning strike in a round of 16 game with Argentina.
The defender was voted by fans on the Fifa website, beating goals from the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and a host of others
The goal scored with a right-footed half-volley, leveled the score at 2-2 in the 57th minute of the clash.
France went on to win the game 4-3 and later on won the trophy after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
He is now the first person from Europe to have won the award since it was created in 2006.
“The ball bounced up as it came to me. I didn’t even think about it. I just tried to get over it and keep it down,” Pavard told FIFA.com after the game.
“I was trying to hit it in the direction it came from, which is what the strikers always tell me. I didn’t think it over, and when it went in I just felt so happy.”
