Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and author of his memoir “Night” about being a teenager in Auschwitz Concentration Camp, has passed away at age 87.
“Yad Vashem mourns the passing of Elie Wiesel-Holocaust survivor, Nobel laureate, renowned author,” the research center said in a statement Saturday.
He died at his home in Manhattan.
Wiesel, a Romanian-born writer, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.
