Former Senator Dino Melaye has been suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the party’s executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, Okay.ng reports.
The suspension comes after Melaye allegedly refused to honor a summons issued by the ward’s executive committee.
The committee stated that the former senator was suspended for anti-party activities and alleged misconduct.
The decision was made during a meeting held in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday, where the executive committee reviewed the report of a disciplinary panel set up to investigate the allegations against Melaye. The resolution was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and the Ward Secretary, Yodson Dayo.
The resolution reads: ”Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable. Therefore, the ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.
“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.”
