2 Policemen Die While Escorting Election Result Sheets In Taraba

Two police officers have died in Taraba State after they drowned while escorting election results to a collation centre.

The unidentified men lost their lives on Sunday, April 12, 2015, while on their way to the centre in the Bali Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, who were deployed to Marrio village drowned after the boat conveying them to their destination capsized.

“When it happened, the villagers tried all they could to rescue the policemen but before they could help them they had drowned,” a witness told Premium Times.

Police spokesperson, Joseph Kwaji confirmed the incident but did not provide the names of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship elections in the state inconclusive.
